Employee Benefits Producer

MAIN FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Brown & Brown of Washington – Tacoma is seeking an Employee Benefits Department Producer to be part of our highly successful sales organization. As one of the largest independent insurance brokerage firms in the United States, this is an excellent opportunity for the self motivated, entrepreneurial, salesperson having a strong desire to be successful. Salary to be determined based on experience and ability, plus commission incentives and benefits.

JOB SUMMARY:

An Employee Benefits Producer’s primary job is to generate new business production through the sale of employee benefits packages. Candidates must demonstrate a clear understanding of benefits insurance coverages and program designs, both of which are paramount in designing packages that fulfill all a customer’s needs. Candidates must also be able to manage schedules, set appointments with prospective customers, analyze existing exposures, and present alternative insurance solutions to fulfill the needs of prospects and existing customers. High energy and self-management are a must, as is a persistent desire to succeed.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Create and develop sales opportunities with primarily mid-sized regional based organizations.
  • Must have ability to create and break relationships, and be results oriented.
  • Understand and communicate insurance products and services to prospective buyers.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Possess the ability to organize work activities to produce consistent results.
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with team members and have a strong customer service ethic.
  • Have a solid understanding of information technologies and services used in a business environment.
  • Washington State Life, Disability, and Long-term License.
  • Four year college degree (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years sales experience.

Personal Lines & Small Commercial Account Manager

MAIN FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

To provide service to agency’s customers on their commercial insurance program. To contribute to retention and growth through prompt and courteous service. To assist Producers in the placement of new and renewal business.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide direct customer service support for personal and commercial lines clients.
  • Issue appropriate documentation as needed, including certificates of insurance, auto insurance ID cards, etc.
  • Translate highly technical information for the customer’s understanding.
  • Resolve policy- and coverage-related concerns for customers, insurance carriers, and Producers.
  • Bind or place coverage with acceptable carriers, adhering to carriers’ binding authority.
  • Review accounts handled for adequate coverage
  • Must demonstrate the ability to…
    • Educate, cross sell, and upsell coverages
    • Recommend changes to insured for enhanced protection
    • Ensure Profit Center Minimum Standards are being met

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Washington State Insurance License (or: must obtain within 60 days of hire)
  • Minimum 3 years recent agency experience handling the service of a large book of business
  • Knowledge of property and construction preferred
  • Strong writing skills – ability to translate technical information in manner understandable to all levels of customers
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Analytical, detail-oriented mind and a commitment to accuracy
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Proficient on computers – Applied System preferred
  • Comfort of use with MS Office (Word, Excel) and Internet
  • Desire for professional growth within the Insurance industry a must
